family members;;
Mother: Allison Jaegar - She was born and raised in Germany before settling down and moving to America, and still has some accent. Her grammar occasionally slips since her first language was German. She's a stay-at-home mother, and spends the majority of her time working on her hobbies, which change monthly. Age: Not telling.(58)

Father: Keefer Jaegar - Like his son, Jerrod, Mr. Jaegar was born in America but has all German parents. He's a very religious Christian, and a bit old-fashioned. Like so many others, he works in a computer company, and due to his decently high position, is sent on a good deal of business trips. Age: 62

Older Sister: Stefanie Jaegar - She was the pampered and well-mannered first child, who excelled in everything her parents wanted her to. Bright and talented, she was accepted into an Ivy League college as soon as she ended high school, where she majored in Journalism, much to her parents' surprise. However, by this time they were used to trusting her judgment, so they didn't make a fuss. After graduating, she started writing for a newspaper. When she lived with them, she spent the most time with Jerrod, and was a pretty big influence. She still keeps in some contact with him. Age: 28

history;;
Save for one thing, Jerrod's childhood was pretty easy going. He was born November 3rd to Allison and Keefer Jaeger, who were pretty well delighted at having their second child, especially since the first one, his sister Stefanie who was ten at the time, was turning out so well already. By now his parents were overly confident after seeing Stefanie behave and do so well, so they made their first mistake. Where they had been strict rules for Stefanie, they were infinitely more lax with Jerrod, assuming that he would turn out the same way. As a naturally curious child, he took full advantage of it. He was bright like his sister, but in a different way. While she carefully memorized and understood, he would start to do that, then just question it. He was happy, excitable, and full of questions. Endless questions that drove a good deal of people to the end of their wits. And during that time he was also closest to his sister, the only one who always without fail had time for him. After a time, he even ended up adopting some of her girlier habits. Although at first he was endearing, it didn't take long before he started to annoy people, especially his peers, who shunned him. If he noticed or minded, he never showed it, happy to doodle by himself.
After some time, his peers had had enough of whatever it was that he was doing wrong. The tougher boys ganged up on him, and he stood no chance. He took a nasty beating, but escaped any severe injury, except a minorly broken nose. When he came home bloody and crying, he got mixed reactions. His mother instantly starting fussing over him, and his father was furious at the boys. It took all his restraint and some extra convincing to prevent him from teaching them all a lesson himself. He settled for letting their own parents punish them.
It wasn't long afterwords that they moved to Colquitt, Georgia. He was twelve at the time. It was a bit of a move from Nevada, but it was considered worth it, as it was both a promotion for Mr. Jaegar, and a much needed escape for Jerrod. A few dull years after arriving Jerrod and his father had a bit of a falling out. What happened? Jerrod finally admitted to being homosexual. His father was and still is a devote religious man, and of course he had issues with this. Finally they sorted it out, for the most part. They're on somewhat speaking terms, accepting but not agreeing with the other's lifestyle. Now that he's in highschool, things have been going better. Just getting by every day.

personality;;
Since the incident when he was twelve, Jerrod changed a good deal from the bright and eternally curious kid he was. Now he is a bit two sided. It all depends on what he immediately thinks of someone. He has a strong instinct, for better or for worse, and almost always follows it. If he gets a good feeling about someone, he'll instantly take to them, and they'll see the last remains of who he was as a little kid. He shows how bright he still is, and how friendly he can be. He's also pretty witty, and uses this however he wants. If he gets a bad feeling from someone though, he'll instantly shun them as though they don't exist. Despite this, he remains pretty well liked, and it didn't take him too long to achieve the status of Ace, which he still enjoys.

-Judge mental: It all depends on first impressions for him. Your entire possible future with him depends on what sort of feeling he gets from you. Call it an aura if you will. He doesn't get a particular feeling from most people though. When he doesn't, he sticks to being polite, a tad distant, but generally friendly. He won't get close to those he doesn't get the right aura from, but he won't be mean to them. His general politeness to everyone and aloofness is what made him an Ace.

-Witty: Most of his old intelligence, while still present on his report cards when he feels like it, developed into wit. He almost always has a quick comeback or insult ready. Woe to the person who annoys him or anyone he took a liking to, since they will quickly find themselves barraged with insults, the sort meant to really sting. He's not one to hold grudges though, and after putting whoever it is in their place, he returns to treating them however he did in the past. Simple as that.

-Over the Top: Oddly enough, after driving people to attacking him the last time, he's developed some weird fascination for testing people to see just how far he's capable of pushing them. He never chooses any particular subjects, but just acts over the top or flamboyant in general, to see if people will get fed up with him again. He can't say exactly why he does it, he's just curious. Plus, a lot of this flamboyancy is just a natural part of his personality that he picked up from his sister. He also enjoys flirting with the boys, because it is fun. Very fun.

Quote:
It was cold. Very cold. That was the first thing to register in his mind as he stepped out of the pleasantly warm house to let the wind slap at him. Hanging onto his arm and shivering slightly was his sister, younger by three years. If he was feeling the cold, he knew that she must really be suffering. “Are you sure you want to go through with this? It’s only going to get colder.” He offered her a way out for roughly the fifth time that day.

She flinched slightly at the prospect of it getting colder, but shook her head vigorously. “No, no, no! I’ve been waiting to go to a ball for forever, I won’t back out now!” Even as she said that, her teeth chattered, ruining the brave effect. She started walking though, not about to be swayed.

Cade sighed, though not irritably as he walked slowly to keep her easy pace. They’d had this conversation plenty of times before. But he just couldn’t stay mad at his far too delicate little sister, Mischa. He couldn’t say no to her either, which was why they were out here, dressed in some of their nicest clothes just as the sun was getting low, on their way to Mischa’s first ever ball. She had spoken of nothing else since they saw the notice yesterday, and this time their father had actually relented, and let her go despite her bad health. She could get around just fine, but he wasn’t sure how well she’d last a long ball. That was why he’d insisted on accompanying her, despite his misgivings and her protests, the latter of which was settled when he promised to keep his distance. Mischa was a pain, but the idea of letting her go alone seemed worse than having to suffer through one ball.

After all, how bad could it possibly be?

As soon as he thought that, he suddenly wanted to turn around and go home. It wasn’t far, and he would deal with her anger.

But at that moment, of course, the small carriage that Mischa had hired out of her own saving (and some of Cade’s) pulled up, and he knew he was too late to do anything about it. He perked up a bit once he was inside though, thankful that the wind would stop messing with his brown hair. It was a good reminder that he probably needed his hair cut, it reached roughly the base of his neck at the longest point, but he didn’t mind it much.

He looked over at Mischa, and perked up even more. Her enthusiasm was clearly visible in her brown eyes, the same color as his eyes and hair, and it was contagious.

In fact, by the time they got there, Mischa having chatted his ear off the whole time, he had almost convinced himself that everything was going to turn out fine.

“See, didn’t I tell you that hiring a carriage would be so much more fun? And I am sorry about using your money; I’ll pay you back for sure!” she had been repeating this half-apology between topics since they got used to riding in the carriage, and had just finished when they pulled up to their destination. And just as well, since the sight firmly shut her mouth.

While they were far from poor, they had never seen a castle quite that big, or quite that grand. Or quite that, well, old. But it was old in what was a dignified sense, if he had to put a name to it.

Cade snapped out of his daze first though, and opened up the door, jumped out, and then helped Mischa out despite her claim that she could get out just fine, thank you very much.

He rolled his eyes at her, and looked around. Some of the other guests who were just arriving were watching them, or more particularly her. He returned stares until they looked away, and turned back to Mischa, trying to decide just what they were staring at. She was a bit young, but not too terribly young, her sixteen, and him nineteen, and nearing his twentieth. That set them both in their late teenage years, so that probably wasn’t it. And she only looked a bit younger than she actually was. His brotherly pride told him that they were looking at her because she was just so pretty, but the cynical part of him overruled it, and said it was probably something else.

And so they entered, with Cade feeling a bit uneasy again, despite Mischa’s renewed excitement.
