 And I've seen L O V E [d.i.e] (OPEN)

Dakota rolled her eyes as she looked up from her book, over toward where her sister was 'skating' with her friends. None of them had any real clue how to skateboard, but they thought it was cool, so they tried to look somewhat competent while falling down alot. Dakota was sitting on top of one of the ramps that wasn't being used. It was called the 'Ramp of Joy!'. No one seemed to think it was too joyful. She was reading one of the assigned books for school, which was actually really good, and listening to her iPod.

It was Saturday, so Dakota didn't have school, and didn't really want to be at home, so she'd offered to take Ali down to the skate park(which was apperently called the Lunchbox. okay...). Dakota wasn't a huge fan of weekends, mainly because there really wasn't anything to do. She didn't really have any close friends, so she couldn't really hang out with friends... She had lots of friends, just no really close ones. And she definetly didn't want to stay at home. Her house was a mess, and she really didn't want to clean it. She knew she'd have to soon, though. No one else would.

She watched Ali and her best friends, Mona and Leanne, running up the ramp, and then turning around and running back down. They looked entertaining. Dakota felt the sudden urge to hav a best friend. She had had a best friend last year. Her name was Charlie, and she had moved to Alaska. They still e-mailed all the time. Dakota just missed having someone that you could act totally stupid around, and who you could tell everything... She sighed and flipped through the songs on her iPod.

Toby walked around the skate park, looking around at the trees surrounding it. She had no idea why she came here, but she knew something had drawn her there. An outside force, but not really. She was just another teen, bored on a Saturday afternoon. Her mother and sister went out of town with the baby, and Toby was left with her Dad, who had decided last minute to go fishing at the lake with his work buddies.

Toby sighed and walked over to a ramp on the other side of the park no one was using. She balanced along the edge of it, arms out for balance, one foot in front of the other. She walked like that for a while, only losing her balance when a gust of wind pulled her up and dropped her onto a girl who was sitting on the other ledge. Toby got up, wiping off her hands, and frantic with apologies to the elder.

"I'm so sorry!" she pleaded. "I didn't mean to! I really didn't! I- uhm, well, I-uhm-" she stopped herself and breathed for a minute. She was at a loss of words. She bowed her head in shame, ready for a good yelling at.

She braced herself and waited for the girl to scold her.

Dakota was surprised, to say the least, when there was suddenly the weight of a(very small) person on her. She shut her book, laughing quietly. "Well, hi." She grinned at the girl who had fallen on her. "You alright?" Well, she didn't look harmed, but she did look rather fragile. Dakota wondered how old the girl was. She looked fairly young, but then, looks can be deceiving. No one ever guess how young DJ really was. That did of course, come in handy at times.

She shook her head as the girl started apologizing. "Don't worry about it. No blood, no foul." Dakota but her lip slightly. She knew that look. That totally ready to be screamed at for nothing kind of look. She got that look pretty often when her dad got mad about various things, like the dishes.

Dakota giggled, having thought of something. "Did the wind knock you over? Cause if it did.... gain some weight, hun!" She folded the corner of her page in her book down, shut it, and pulled her ear buds our of her ears. She reached out her hand to the girl, while swinging her legs over the edge, so the girl could sit, if she wanted. "DJ Carver. You are?"

Toby looked up at her elder with one eye, and then both. She was a little taken aback by the fact she actually talked to her. She nodded when she asked if she was all right. "I-I'm fine." she told, dusting off the hem of her dress and staring at her shoes. She eyed them for a while, smiling, and then looked up again.

She laughed a little, but covered her mouth immediately afterwards. "I know. People tell me that..." she paused. "... Often..." she giggled a little, remembering when she was little and her sister would just swing her over her shoulder, being she was so tiny. She remembered her dad could still lift her on his shoulders during the Fourth of July fireworks if he wanted to.

She was frail, of course.

She took the seat offered to her after a moment of hesitation. "I'm Toby." she told. "Nice to meet you." She gave DJ a smile. It was only then she recognized her. "Aren't you in my school?" she asked. She kicked her legs back and forth, restlessly.

She looked at her fast moving shoes.
